We’re counting down the days to the Sim Formula 2020 event. Did we mention that the entry for this event all four days is absolutely free, except for the esports convention on Thursday evening. You can get in via a special, free “Sim Formula Only Entrance”. We are co-hosting this event with InterClassics, so if you already bought a ticket for that event, you can also access the Sim Formula section. More information on the free entrance, floorplan and other valuable information can be found on the floor plan page.
Let’s take a look at what’s going on all four days at the MECC in Maastricht!
Thursday – esports convention
Thursday the event kicks off at noon. The exhibitor area features different top brands showing off their latest developments in hardware, software and other equipment. Throughout the event you will be able to talk to them and try out some of their products on promenade 2. The main stage will also be open for visitors where you can have a go yourself in a full motion simulator and drive through the virtual streets of Maastricht. In the evening an esports convention features a line-up of international speakers that will talk about all the various aspects of esport now and in the future. A panel discussion ends the evening, where real racers and simracers discuss the growth and evolution of the sport. There are still a few tickets available if you want to be present.
Friday – student seminar
Friday kicks off with a student seminar in the morning, with free entry for students interested in the science behind esports. If you want to be present, please register here. On that same page you can also see the program for the morning. In the afternoon, the exhibition area and main stage are again open for visitors.
Saturday – be the fastest
Saturday the 18th we have the first competition. On the main stage anyone can have a go at setting the fastest time on Circuit Maastricht. At the end of the day, the winner gets a full day master class at the Adrenaline Xperience. This center is run by some of the fastest simracers in the world, and their training expertise will no doubt make you a faster and more competitive driver! Check out the link if you want to learn how to get some practice time in at home, so you come prepared!
Sunday – championship day
Sunday the 19th is “champions day”. In December five simracers qualified as finalists and will compete in three rounds to determine who is the quickest of them all. In one of the nicest arenas in Europe, they will go head to head in full motion simulators. The whole event can be followed on a big screen, and for those not at Sim Formula, we will broadcast the races live, with professional commentary in both English and Dutch. Free practice starts at 11 local time, with races at 14h, 15h and 16h followed by a podium ceremony at 16h30.
The five drivers also represent five different European countries. Hany Alsabti from the Netherlands will drive for team Triple A Esports together with his Estonian team mate Risto Kappet. From France we have Jeremy Bouteloup, defending the honors for Coanda Simsport. Polish driver Zbigniew Siara represents two teams, Secora Racing and PUT Motorsport and last but not least, Jarl Teien, driving for G2 Esports is travelling all the way from Norway.
